Description:
Work closely with customers under an agile development process implement systems features as defined by user stories. Create interfaces and components as defined by system architecture guidelines. Work as collaborative member the development team to produce system components.
Specific Duties Include:
Assist with design of system components.
Develop key system components and features based on software specification and design.
Programming to include code creation, bug fixes, and enhancements, as well as installation, monitoring, and configuration programs and scripts.
Work closely with stakeholders to refine user stories as required.
Documentation of all designs/software developed, documentation of on-going development efforts using Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence).
Required Skills:
Minimum 3 years experience as a Software Engineer supporting software architecture development, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation.
Java programming experience. Position will require web based java development on Linux VMs.
Experience developing web applications.
Experience or willingness to learn and operate in a development environment implementing Agile Development using Scrum Methodology.
14 years experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
Design and code new software or modifies existing software to add new features
Debug existing software and corrects defects
Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
Coordinate with software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
Write or review software and system documentation
Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas
Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
Oversees one or more software development teams and ensures the work is being completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
Desired Skills:
Experience designing and implementing systems which optimize resource usage and implement workflow solutions.
Experience with restful interface design/development.
Experience with cloud related software design and implementation.
Experience with ExtJs.
Knowledge of Camel, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.
Knowledge of JMS.
Knowledge of Apache ActiveMQ, Tomcat and Spring Source Tool Suite.
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD
Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 4 years of software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Clearance: Positions require a Top Secret security clearance, based on current background investigation (SBI), as well as the favorable completion of polygraph. Clearance and polygraph processing will be completed by the U.S. Government.
