Job Description:
The Software Engineer (SWE) develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.
g.
, processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirementsWorks individually or as part of a teamReviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test resultsResolves software problem reportsUtilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environmentProvides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software componentsJob
Responsibilities:
o Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirementso Debug existing software and correct defectso Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standardso Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new featureso Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environmentso Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositorieso Write or review software and system documentationo Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular projecto Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/querieso Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standardso Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software componentso Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areaso Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performanceo Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of designo Develop and support a near real time messaging infrastructure, Messaging products include:
TIBCO EMS, ActiveMQ, Artemis, and Kafkao Provide Tier III support on the Data Transport Systems (DTS) softwareo Develop and support the DTS portfolio (DTS supports complex event processing using FOSS tools to collect infrastructure monitoring/metrics, and generate threshold based and temporal based alerting, DTS components send status information back to storage areas where quires can be made)o DTS products include but are not limited to:
o Cloud storage areas:

Qualifications:
o Four (4) years' experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is requiredBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is requiredFour (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degreeOther:
o Experience in one (1) or more of the following ten (10):
o Public Key Enabling (PKE)o RESTful services and containers (Oracle WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat)o Java programming languageo Perl programing languageo Java EEo Secure web (SSL) and file encryptiono LDAP (RedHat directory) Javao Linux (CentOS)o Modern IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, etc.
